The Infrastructure Operations organization is looking for an extraordinary individual with proven and tested leadership and management skills as a leader in our facilities operations organization in Dublin as a Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Cluster Manager. The Data Centre Engineering Operations Cluster Manager is responsible for the management of all aspects of the performance of data centre infrastructure within a specific location. The role requires a highly driven, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to problems. At this level Amazon is unique in that we seek experienced senior leaders who have evolved to be highly strategic in their approach to managing their business unit, yet understand how to lead large teams by example who will not hesitate to roll up their sleeves when tactical needs dictate it. The ideal candidate for this role will have an understanding of data center IT infrastructure, data center facilities infrastructure and understand how the two coexist. Responsibilities · Hiring, managing, and developing the operations management team including compute operations managers, engineering operations managers, logistics operations managers, and security operations managers. · Attainment of organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency. · Planning and executing the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data center build outs, new colo build-outs, AWS data center expansions and colo expansions, including server hardware install, troubleshooting and repair, security system install, troubleshooting and repair, and related Operations tasks. · Operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for Amazon data centers to include preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and change management. · Vendor management of colocation data center services providers to meet or exceed contracted performance SLA’s. · Safety, security, and availability incident response, incident management, and incident resolution. · Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline. - 12+ years’ experience in a high-volume mission-critical operational environment (eg data center, healthcare, high technology manufacturing, large scale production, aviation maintenance) preferably 7x24x365 operational experience & responsibilities. - 10+ year’s relevant management experience in engineering/technical management for medium to large scale engineering operations (preferably electrical and mechanical) - Proven experience of strategic project/portfolio management delivering medium and large scale technical projects - First-hand knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, employee relations, leadership techniques, operational performance, and coordination of people and resources. - Demonstrated customer-facing manager with ability to deliver results - Track record of implementing Lean Six Sigam Projects - Experienced vendor performance management - Ability to prioritize in complex environment. - Strong IT skills; - Strong verbal and written communication - Leadership and organizational skills with proven track record of developing and managing high performing technical/engineering teams PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Masters Degree in Engineering and Business Administration, or related fields. · Proven ability to hire, develop, and manage high-performing technical teams. · Expert knowledge of data center mechanical, electrical, and controls systems. · Prior ownership of the operation of a mission-critical team and/or product. · Ability to operate independently as a manager of a geographically distributed Infrastructure Operations management team. · Expertise in one or more continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma. · Technical project manager or member of a project team for a new Data Center build out and start up. · Knowledge of information technology infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, technologies and architectures, IT service delivery principles and best practices. · Hardware install, troubleshooting and repair, security system install, troubleshooting and repair, and related Operations tasks. · Operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for Amazon Data Centers to include preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and change management. · Vendor management of colocation Data Center services providers to meet or exceed contracted performance SLA’s. · Safety, security, and availability incident response, incident management, and incident resolution. · Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools.
