Our Data Center Engineering Operations team maintain and operate our critical infrastructure systems so that they are prepared to stand up against any situation. 

AWS has the world’s largest cloud computing portfolio. As an Amazonian you will work in some of the most sophisticated, safe, and secure data centers in the world. Our Engineering Operations Technicians I (EOT’s) help keep them that way by working with the brightest minds from around the globe to help test and implement the newest technology and work practices to meet the demands of a changing market.

Key job responsibilities

- Maintain the critical data center infrastructure ensuring 99.999% uptime of the world's largest cloud computing portfolio.
- Ensure that security procedures are followed.
- Monitor the performance of operations and maintenance of electrical, mechanical and fire/safety equipment within the data center.
- Provide key performance indicators to senior engineers.
- Assist in facility troubleshooting and rack level events respecting Internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
- Work on projects of moderate complexity.
- Perform rack installation, rack decommissioning, walkthroughs and other critical facility infrastructure related activities.
- Accompany vendors on site, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures and local legislation.
- Work on basic support such as ticketing systems, root cause analysis, change management processes, and creating/revising operational procedures.

A day in the life
- Work on foot on uneven terrain. Maintain balance and perform tasks using a ladder.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 18Kg alone or in a group for 18Kg+.
- Regularly walk, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, climb up and down stairs, bend, work above the shoulders, grasp, carry, push and pull.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Electrical/Mechanical Technical High school or Bachelor in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related area.
- Advanced English: read/write/speak.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Relevant experience in data centers or mission critical facilities (e.g. hospital, military facility, public safety facility, etc.).
