Position Summary... What you'll do... Job Summary As part of Walmart Tech’s Global Workforce Management, you’ll help to design and implement the solutions necessary to forecast and calculate labor demand and schedule associates for the world’s largest employer. As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll work collaboratively with multiple engineering teams, Product, Business and Design teams to lead technical discovery, design, and implementation of large-scale applications and products. You’ll have the opportunity to solve complex challenges for important initiatives at the scale which only Walmart can provide using your expertise in design, coding, cloud scaling and overall engineering operational excellence. What you’ll do - Demonstrate up-to-date expertise in Software Engineering and apply this to the development of action plans. Analyze business problems to design solutions and/or implements and test complex code changes for specific requirements or application. Deliver high quality technical designs and code for the product requirements in an agile scrum sprint. - Design complex systems which are scalable and fault tolerant. You will reason about trade-offs (timeliness/accuracy/resource usage) of multiple algorithmic solutions and to highlight the difference in product outcomes. - You will participate in the design, implementation, maintenance, and evolution of Walmart’s Workforce Management, Polaris. You will deploy, operate, and scale Walmart’s Polaris platform in production environments and help improve engineering quality and operation perfection for the whole team. - With your technical expertise and growing domain understanding, you will make recommendations to influence the roadmap. - Implement application which meet throughput and SLAs requirements. Implement unit test cases, perform code reviews, and write feature documentation. Perform build, deployment, and continuous integration processes to move the code and configurations from local development environments to QA & Production environments. What you’ll bring - Experience in Technical Solutions Architecture and design leadership. - Strong Java, and/or JavaScript (React/React Native/Node.js). Experience in RESTful Microservices and graphQL. As well as container technologies such as Docker on Kubernetes. - API design, development, and technical leadership experience. Experience with cloud native technology (Azure/Google Cloud Platform), CI/CD - Clear Communication, including the ability to create functional charts. Superior analytical skills with a good problem-solving attitude. - Experience in Retail or Workforce Management capabilities would be added advantage.
