The successful candidate embodies Amazon’s leadership principles, with specific strengths in their willingness to own their space, bias for action, and insistence on the highest standards. They will be able to effortlessly switch between tactical-level support to their team during investigations and focusing on the bigger picture to improve operations over time. This individual relies on data to drive decision-making for their team and to educate leaders on opportunities to improve Amazon’s security posture. Finally, the leader in this role will be obsessed with providing excellent customer service to the teams across Amazon who depend on rapid and thorough insider threat response. Key job responsibilities - Lead and develop a regional team of security engineers who provide insider threat investigation support to Amazon. - Serve as a leading insider threat and forensics investigator to support regional investigation operations. - Establish, document, and improve standard operating procedures, run-books, and internal best practices for the investigations function. - Closely partner with technical program management to define the team’s technology requirements, assist in identifying new technology solutions, and improve existing solutions to enable the team’s investigative mission. - Partner with relevant teams across information security, Legal, HR, and others necessary in support of investigations. - Communicate effectively with varying audiences at multiple levels of sensitivity, often including legal, human resources, business leaders, and partner information technology and information security teams. - Evaluate the impact of current security trends, advisories, publications, and academic research to Amazon. - Develop trends and insights based upon data to drive continual improvements. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience. - 5+ years of demonstrated experience in an Information Security or Investigative role, preferably in digital forensics, incident response, internal threat (aka insider threat) investigations, or a relevant engineering role. - 3+ years of demonstrated experience in building, leading, and managing operational teams. - Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy in a global environment. - Effective written and verbal communication skills across a broad range of technical and non-technical audiences. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Relevant industry certifications or training which demonstrate intimate familiarity with the forensics investigations or insider threat discipline (e.g., CFCE, GCFE, GASF, GIME, GCFA, GNFA or CERT, CCITP, NITTF). - Previous experience leading insider threat or DFIR teams/functions. - Experience with defensive technologies or mechanisms against insider threats and the ability to pick up new technologies quickly. - Ability to prioritize competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. - Proven experience establishing metrics for measurement of engineering and operational excellence.
