Principal Responsibilities Role: Non-Financial Risk, Senior Manager, Securities Services Securities Services provides robust and reliable solutions that enhance performance and mitigate risk, today and in the future. Working with institutional investors, banks, insurance companies, governments and multinational corporations, Securities Services offers a range of fund administration, global custody, sub-custody and clearing, and corporate trust and loan agency services. This Non-Financial Risk (“NFR”) function sits within the Securities Services business of HSBC. NFR partners with various stakeholders in Three Lines of Defence (3LoD) to manage and control non-financial risks in the Securities Services business.  An overarching purpose is to protect HSBC, its People, Clients and Financial Markets by helping safeguarding the delivery of fair outcomes to our customers and avoiding disruption of the orderly and transparent operation of Financial Markets. Role Purpose  Leadership role with the NFR team, with primary responsibility to manage the Global thematic NFR review book for work. The role is additionally responsible for planning and executing key entity management NFR activities within the risk and control framework for Securities Services (“SSv”), supported by remote team. This will involve providing co-ordination, advice, independent challenge and assessment in relation to all risk governance, reporting and data quality activities undertaken by the NFR Function or the SSv Business/Risk Owners in line with RMF/FIM. This will include, inter-alia, managing and delivering the following (or a subset thereof as agreed with management): - RMF Policy& Assurance – To understand and interpret all RMF requirements (and changes thereto) and to provide on-going assurance and reporting regarding global adherence with requirement - FIM Policy – To understand the FIM Policy Framework and to manage and oversee the cascade and adoption of any changes thereto - Governance & Reporting – To oversee, support and deliver fit for purpose risk governance arrangements and related reporting (and other ad-hoc reporting as required) - Assurance & Monitoring – To assist the NFR function in the consistent design and delivery a suitable risk based assurance and monitoring programme (including substantive control testing (ICMP), KRI and Thematic Reviews) - Risk & Control Assessment (RCA) – To assist the NFR function to ensure the MSS RCA is dynamically maintained, based on all relevant risk triggers - Supporting as required any related risk and control related activities including, but not restricted to, liaison with Internal/External Audit and Regulatory Authorities as well as key internal stakeholder Key Accountabilities Lead & Direct: - Act as a senior leader of the SSv NFR function, working alongside the regional NFR to lead the direction and coordination of risk management activities across SSv in Hong Kong - Provide commercially based monitoring of risks, services and processes against agreed group/divisional standards and external requirements - Ensure the risk governance framework is clear and fit for purpose, and that escalation paths are adequate and effective - As a member of the NFR business risk management team, contribute to the broader strategy and performance of the global function Customers / Stakeholders: - Support the NFR and SSv senior management in ensuring the appropriate risk and control structure is in place and that risks that have been highlighted are managed appropriately  - Ensure succinct and concise communication of risk matters across SSv, the Global Functions (especially Group Risk) and other relevant areas of the bank - Provide consistent internal and external benchmarking, where appropriate Operational Effectiveness & Control: - Oversee the execution of the Risk Management Framework across SSv in the country - Attend critical SSv / Country level Risk & Control committees/forums and ensure that the agenda effectively covers critical MSS risks and issues - Regularly review the NFR teams’ priorities, activities, structure and resources, optimally aligning to business needs and risk appetite - Cost-effectively minimise the likelihood and impact of disruption by ensuring that the business can continue to meet at the expectations of customers, counterparties, regulators and other stakeholders - Implement supporting strategies, policies and procedures to ensure that operational (and other) risks are managed closely and effectively, in a commercially sensitive and practical manner - Drive to ensure that the business risk profile, and any related issues/impacts, are understood by the business and the appropriate actions (and/or risk acceptance) have been put in place to manage within appetite Experience - Experience in Business Management, Audit or Risk/Control roles in Global Financial Institution a benefit - Well-developed leadership and people management skills - Strategic thinker with strong analytical and interpretation skills to enhance standards, policies and controls - Understanding of HSBC structures, processes and objectives, especially in the risk environment - Knowledge and experience of Markets and/or Securities Services industry a benefit - Broad knowledge of the external environment (regulatory, political, competitors etc.) Skills/ Competencies - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to negotiate and work effectively with senior business leaders across business lines and geographies - Strong problem solving and prioritization skills and be able to perform multitask under pressure with a keen eye for detail - Excellent team player with a proactive and self-motivated attitude and ability to think and act independently - Strong commercial awareness - Can do’ attitude with a willingness to roll-up the sleeves in order to get things done - Manages to balance structure & best practice versus pragmatism You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC. www.hsbc.com/careers HSBC is committed to building a culture where all employees are valued, respected and opinions count.
