Time and Attendance (TAA), part of Employee experience and Technology organization within Amazon, is responsible to design and develop software solutions to capture associate’s attendance and Time off accurately and as per statutory requirements, so that they can be paid timely and in accurate manner. TAA Risk and Compliance (TAARC) manages risk and compliance globally for Amazon for all employee-related pay, time off and attendance topics. We partner with various cross functional teams (e.g. TAA product and Programs, software and TAA servicing, Payroll, local / business HR teams, Legal, Public Policy, Benefits, Compensation) to implement new or revised pay/time obligations, harmonize different practices when employee/public relations concerns arise and protect Amazon from pending/future class-action litigation. TAARC team is looking for a leader to lead their Europe operations. This role will have accountability to support compliance for 20+ EU countries including compliant expansions and migrations, risk assessments for policy changes, remediating high-risk compliance gaps, delivering software-based solutions for compliance needs. This individual will lead a team of 3-5 senior Risk professionals to support pay and Time related compliance across EU. He/she will work to design risk frameworks, develop and implement mechanisms to standardize business policies, monitor policy changes and their impact and mitigate compliance violation risks through proactive audits and process controls. This senior leader must be passionate about people management, knowing how to drive program continuity regardless of business volatility and rapidly changing needs. The leader must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the operations and program teams, influencing tech roadmaps to drive automation where able. Flexible Location: United Kingdom, Ireland, Czech Republic Key job responsibilities - Strategy: Design and implement end to end, TAA EU Compliance strategy. This entails designing EU specific Risk framework, establishing the country risk rating basis the framework and partnering with Business leaders to address compliance violations through product and process solutions. This will include identification and implementation of right Compliance tools to track, store and mine all statutory requirements. - New Launch support: work with key stakeholders and Project teams to ensure all TAA policy related requirements are met and solution designed for a new launch is 100% compliant from Day 1. - Ongoing compliance: design annual audit strategy of high-risk processes. Partner with legal and business to conduct these audits to identify compliance violations and design mitigation through product/process solutions. Review internal and external audit reports providing remediation plans and working with stakeholders to close identified risks and issues. Seeking opportunities and anticipating challenges/obstacles our compliance teams could face as the global business, regulatory landscape, and technical capabilities evolve. And work with team to address those challenges. - People Management: leading and developing a team of 3-5 senior Risk professionals supporting TAA EU compliance strategy implementation. - Relationship management: working collaboratively and transparently with senior business leadership, legal and tech teams, to ensure alignment between core business priorities and compliance priorities. - Policy Standardization and Simplification to ensure we increase speed of launch for TAA solutions to meet customer needs and compliance requirements. We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Dublin, IRL BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Finance, Tax, Risk management, or related field - Significant experience of increasing responsibility, in functions like Risk and Compliance, Tax, Audit, Legal, or similar teams. - Excellent knowledge of international labor laws and social security legislation. Strong knowledge about cross border workers, tax treaties and other international employment legislation. - Demonstrated experience working on issues impacting the technology industry, such as competition, privacy, consumer protection, tax, copyright, trade, labor, transportation and infrastructure, product compliance, or sustainability. - Experience managing multiple direct reports and key stakeholders in multiple regions. - Exceptional ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others is required. Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment / decision-making skills, intelligently build a course of action, analyze trade-offs, and make recommendations in ambiguous situations. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification, Certified Quality Engineer, Risk Management or related certification - Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to interact at all corporate levels. Ability to create factual, relevant and easily understandable talking points and other messaging, and persuasively deliver it to relevant audiences. - Ability to prioritize workloads, remain flexible, and maintain a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment while supporting multiple, simultaneous programs.
