DESCRIPTION Ring is a leader in developing security products, such as Doorbells, Spotlights and Cameras. Our Product Integrity team aims to develop reliable and robust products that delight our customers. Ring is looking for a HW Compliance Engineer to ensure we deliver products that performs per product specifications through time. You will work closely with our cross-functional product development teams to develop and execute compliance test plans. You will be responsible for design for compliance, certification and global market access for Ring products. This position requires strong technical expertise and experience in safety, EMI, EMC, ESD, wireless and energy efficiency regulatory compliance. The right candidate will be an integral partner to the hardware development team, ensuring that all Ring product design conforms with worldwide regulatory requirements. You must be a regulatory subject matter experts with a working knowledge of EMC compliance and wireless devices and technology. Key job responsibilities • Drive a standardized and harmonized approach to Regulatory Compliance across Ring's suite of products • Define test specifications, methodology and test coverage to assure product compliance • Translate product business requirements into compliance qualification plans • Working with engineering team, including the product/program managers, actively educate on regulatory requirements for new and existing products, help guide compliant design development and verify compliance through testing, debug and validation activities • Identify and validate product risks and work with design teams to mitigate them • Develop and Implement Design for Reliability and Safety • Provide hands-on expertise in compliance testing during development • Work with 3rd party labs to test and validate Ring products and support testing from a hardware and software perspective • Complete test results, debug, root cause failures and communicate to program teams any areas of concerns on failures and implement corrective design actions • File official paperwork and final approval from the proper government or regulatory bodies • Track and research applicable requirements related to worldwide regulatory certification labeling and ensure Ring products remain compliant with current regulations • Stay up to date on any changes to global agency approvals and testing procedures A day in the life You will engage with an experienced cross-functional teams and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution and tests. As a Compliance Engineer, you will be a positive influence to the cross-functional team in launching new disruptive products that are compliance, safe, high quality, durable and reliable. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS . Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or a related field and five years of experience in a related occupation. Bachelor's degree and 7 years experience in regulatory compliance RF background on one or more wireless technologies (WLAN, BT, Zigbee, Cellular) is also acceptable · Experienced communication skills in writing and presenting · Experience in submissions for official certification through relevant compliance bodies such as FCC, ISED, CE NB, TELEC, WPC · Experience in documenting regulatory requirements extracted from compliance standards PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS · Knowledge of the following fields: Consumer Electronics Products, Building Standards, DFMEA · Experience with failure analysis techniques and product design principles · Multiple generations of FCC/CE/TELEC/WPC product regulatory approval submissions · Proven track record of role modeling a collaborative teamwork environment · Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
